U17-U19 BOYS NEEDED:
Vaiete’s Junior Team made up of high school Jrs, Srs and recent
grads is looking for players to fill out its roster. This has
been a very
competitive
team in the last few years of competition in Miso Jr’s, and
HYSA’s U19 division. Last summer they traveled to the mainland
and competed in the Pateadores Cup tournament at UC Irvine. The
team has an experienced coach in Chris Fisher and regularly has
the benefit of practicing with the Vaiete’s Open and Premier
men’s teams. Vaiete strongly supports this team and recruits
many of its players to participate in their men’s teams. Do not
miss this opportunity to join one of Hawaii’s oldest and most
respected soccer clubs. In June 2007, the club will be
committed to travel to New Zealand and Tahiti for an intensive
soccer exchange program and this will be an opportunity to see
what our international country neighbors have to offer.

the club during that scrimmage game in front of over 500

CONGRATULATIONS & WELL DONE VAIETE JUNIORS:
Finalist in the HYSA State Cup!
Summary provided by Steve Ertel...."Sat
1-1tie vs. 89 Bulls, 6 players missing due to graduation f estivities,
questionable call on last play of the 1st half allowed Bulls to
score on a PK, we came back on a score by new player Lee Anderson
with about 10 minutes to play. Sunday 4-0 victory vs. AC Honolulu.
We knew we had to get maximum points in order to have a chance to
make the finals. Micah Kenney scored early off a break on the left
side. Will Jensen scored
at the end of the 1st half off a loose ball in front of the goal.
AC then packed in their defense in the second half led by our Vaiete
player, Mat Yen, playing for his primary team. Jim Terry put in 2
goals in the second half off beautiful set pieces. Then we had to
wait for the results of the AC Honolulugame
vs. the 89 Bulls. Again led by Mat Yen, AC allowed only 2 goals and
we were in the finals on points. In the finals we faced a very
strong Bulls 88 team with our full roster. The game was a real
physical battle for the first 90 minutes with no scores allowed
Early in the first overtime we went a player down after Mike De
Caires received his second yellow card. Finally the Bulls scored
with only 2 minultes remaining in the second overtime and held on
for the 1-0 victory. The Vaiete Junior team was very disappointed
in the loss but had nothing to be ashamed of with a valiant effort
against a very good Bulls team".
Special Mahalo to...Chris Fisher, Steve Ertel, Charles Temanaha and
all the parents

CONGRATULATIONS VAIETE PREMIER:
We are extremely proud of the hard work and accomplishment made this
season! After taking a season off in the Spring 2005, Vaiete
Premier re-entered the MISO league D2 and completed the season with
a perfect record (14-0-0) by winning the overall 1st place and
league champions of the MISO Fall 2005. In the Spring 2006,
Vaiete Premier was automatically promoted to D1 and had one goal;
searching for another successful season without any expectations but
simply performed well. This performance has paid off as the
team played considerably every game at a consistent level to capture
the Jack Sullivan Overall 1st place
(12-0-2). With such high team
work energy, the team was chasing the League Cup Championship and
with the many anticipated practices and player's loyalty and
dedication, once again the team capture another title, the MISO D1
Spring 2006 Championship. Vaiete has stamped another record
award in the history book as
the only team winning an overall 1st place and league champions back
to back in both MISO D1 & D2.
Congratulations each and everyone on the team!
Special Mahalo to...Roger Mou, Charles Temanaha, Victor & Pam Czech
and David Trifonovitch

Everyone in the club this year has helped to put Vaiete Premier back
on top as the team to beat in MISO. With just one game left
for the Premier to win the MISO Division I Championship and two
games to claim
the Robledo Cup, there is a
possibility for this to be the most successful season for Vaiete
since joining MISO. GO PREMIER!
The Open team out performed everyone's expectations and nearly got
the chance to be promoted to Division I. Next season looks
very promising for the Open as numerous players have expressed an
interest in join our team. Many long time Vaiete Alumni are looking
to return to our club and play for the Open team. I would also
like to especially congratulate the Open All-Stars as every one of
them are over 30 and the First Team selection (Dane) is over 40.
A testament to the longevity and quality of our players.
Special recognition and thanks need to go to the Vaiete Junior team.
They have not only represented us well in HYSA, but many of their
players performed double duty every weekend and played with the
Premier and Open teams. Because of the quality of the Junior
team the future for the Open and Premier look very bright. We
hope that everyone of you go on to play soccer in college and we
look forward to when you return and become the next generation of
adults to continue to legacy of Vaiete in Hawaii.
The coaches, managers and board of directors would like to thank
each and everyone of you for making this such a successful season
and helping us all bring the pride and honor of being a Vaiete
player back to our club.

Vaiete Premier:
Congratulations!
Vaiete Premier defeated
Lanikai 6-5 in a shoot out drama! Lanikai has been known to be a
very defensive team when they played practically a 6-3-1 formation
making impossible to create opportunity to break into the defense line.
Vaiete Premier already secured the Overall 1st place titled and now will
be chasing the second one out of a total of 3 to grab from the MISO
league (Overall 1st Place, League Champions, Cup Champions). They
will be facing the Dawgs on Sunday May 28th at 4:00pm at the Stadium of
the Waipio Soccer Complex. Please come and support the team!
Good Luck!
Vaiete Open:
The team was not
able to concur into the final championship game and lost to Kamikaze
1-0. Unfortunately, the team did not have all the necessary
players to take them to the final. The team hopes to grown even
stronger next season! Great Job for this season!

Romulo has been involved with the club with so much compassion
and love of soccer. He has traveled to Tahiti many times

younger years. He is quite familiar with the club utmost
culture and team work effort. (If you hang around him
long enough, you will see some similarity qualities as
Eugenio....Just too funny!)
We wish them all the best and when you see them (well mostly
Romulo) on the field, stop by and say "hello". Once again

the D1 title with the traditional guidance of the club head coach, Roger
Mou. We wish everyone the best of luck for this upcoming season! |

Vaiete Over 30 Team:
The team will be taking a season break from the Makule League. The team
manager, Romulo Fonseca, decided to take the team off the Makule League
this spring season with the approval of the Vaiete's board. Vaiete
Open has been aggressively recruiting our alumni players, therefore,
limiting most players to play dual games and resulting in shortage of
personnel to fill the Vaiete Over 30 Team. We will reorganize the
next season for the Makule League. Thank you for your
understanding and should you have any questions, please contact Romulo [Email] |

The team just set a new record by winning its fifth straight game this

flourishing as all of Oahu Teams captured "W" status. Vaiete O30
won against Undertow 3-2; Vaiete Premier take on another win against
International 2-0 and Vaiete Open clinched with a last minute goal
against Kamikaze 1-0. Great job everyone! |

Jensen, Andrew Lam and Fernando Liquido for Punahou's ILH championship.
Good luck to them in next week's state championships

01/25/2006
Vaiete Juniors:
Congratulations to our players who are having such good seasons in the
OIA and the ILH. It is time to organize our team for the upcoming
spring HYSA season. Everyone should have received registration and cost
information from Steve Ertel. If not, let him know right away.
Registrations are due in ten days so don't delay in returning them to
Steve. If anyone still has uniforms from last season, return them to
Steve ASAP. We can't get our new uniforms until all the old ones are
turned in.
Zach and Jared have decided not to play for us this season but we have
three new players so far: Zach Elwell (Kalaheo), Fernando Liquido (Punahou)
and Andrew Lam (Punahou). We have room for at least one more player if
anyone has a suggestion.
Coach Chris Fisher has committed to coaching the team for this season.
We also have a new assistant coach, Sean Akamine. After graduating from
Punahou, he played four years at University of Puget Sound and is now
playing for Vaiete Premier while also coaching the Punahou Varsity.
Practice will start after President's Day and will be two nights a week
at Manoa Rec. Games will begin the second weekend in March. Coach
Chris has asked me to emphasize promptness and attendance at practices
and games. This is important as we will have more players vying for
positions and playing time. See you all...

Vaiete Premier & Open Teams:
As we are restructuring and re-developing both teams, results have been
quite impressive. Last week, Vaiete Open defeated Faded, a
co-champions of D2, 2-0 and this past Sunday, beating Waikiki FC 1-0.
Yesterday, Vaiete Premier dominated against the organized senior
Bulls Team and won a well deserved game 2-0.

All Teams are back:
All of our men's teams have been back playing this past week-end with
some major changes in the Premier, Open and Over 30 teams. The Premier
Team started their game almost as a "brand" new team with many new and
returning players with a tie game (2-2) against the good and physical
Lanikai Team. The Open Team opened their first game with an
impressive win against the runner up D2 champions, Faded, 2-0, while the
Over 30 Team come back and tie the game against Corea, 2-2.
Welcome back everyone and have a fun and great Spring season! |
